Review: Avon True Colour Eyeshadow Quad - Green Flash

Hi everyone,

My avon lady has been away for a few weeks after winning a free holiday for being the best seller in our area, so I had to wait a while for my order. But it was definitely worth the wait.

I order the new True Colour Eyeshadow Quads compacts, the colours were so looked so bright in the catalogue I new I would have some fun creating new looks with them so rather than choosing between them I ordered both.

First up for review is "Green Flash". To make sure this doesn't just become me rambling on , I thought I would show you my photos of the compact first, then a sample of me wearing the colours and finally I'll let you know what I liked and what I didn't.

Avon packaging is the same for most of their compact products

Swatches without primer - no flash
Swacthes without primer - with flash

What I Liked:

  • The packaging is very simple in a classic black rounded square compact
  • In the lid is a very sizeable 2.5" square mirror, which would work very nicely has a touch up mirror when on the go.
  • You get 1.5g of each colour, 6g in total
  • The colours are very shimmery in the packaging and 2 greens complement each other really well

What I didn't like:

  • The compact is called "Green Flash" but only 2 of the shadows are green the other 2 are very similar shades of brown. I was kind of hoping there was going to be at least 3 shades of green with maybe one contrasting colour to allow for light to dark blending on the eyes.
  • Despite the colours looking gorgeous and bright in the packaging the pay off is not that great. As you can see from my swatches above, without any these colours do not have the impact the could do.
  • Their staying power isn't that great either, when I tried them out I only got a couple of hours through my day before I was doing touch ups (maybe that's why they give you such a big mirror! lol!)
  • I must say though I haven't tried these wet yet so I am hoping that this will give me the high impact colour I am after.

Overall:
I must say I am a little disappointed by these shadows, although they look great in the packaging and I love the pearly finish, shades like this are likely to worn on a night out with a statement dress or accessories and you don't want to have to be re-touching your eyeshadow over couple of hours on a night out do you.  I will keep trying with these becuase i love the colours so much, but at £8 a compact I'm not sure I'll be repurchasing these, Sorry Avon!

Come back soon as I will review my other Avon purchases including the second eyeshadow quad "Vivid Violet".

Love

Jude xXx
