Day 15: Sleek I-Divine PPQ Shangri-la collection - Respect Eyeshadow Palette

Hi,

Wow what a long name for an eye shadow palette, not quite sure what it all means but basically Sleek have come out with a new collection called "Shangri-la" and within it is 2 eyeshadow palettes and 2 matt lipglosses. I decided to get the respect eye shadow palette and the Jazz lip gloss, as they both seemed to go so well together and the colours are just so bright and beautiful.

The outer packaging is very vibrant when compared to sleek's usual black on black so stood out a mile on the display stand:

Inside the packaging is the usual from sleek shiny black on matt black, simple but I love it. The only downfall to this is that at a glance I can't tell all my sleek palettes apart?

what's inside this simple looking palette however more than makes up for the exterior. The glorious warm colours of the 12 eyeshadows dazzle you as you open it, with oranges, ochres, browns and creams this is a palette that could take you from the day to night with ease.

The large mirror makes this ideal for travel with room for a small brush if you
don't like the applicator sponge it comes with.
What I also love about this palette aside from the gorgeous colours is their names. They have clearly been inspired by 60's motown, as the names contain some of the best musicians from that era.

Top L-R: Gladys White & James Brown
Bottom L-R: Roberta Black & Vandellas
Top L-R: Shalamar & Count Basi Beige
Bottom L-R: Cameo Cream & Motown Mink
Top L-R: Aretha Orange & Otis Red
Bottom L-R: O' Jays & New Jack Pink

As always with the Sleek palettes the colours are highly pigmented, the only colour that I felt wasn't, was Gladys White which I could not get to swatch at all. I've swatched them in the three sets of four as above (they are all with primer as I always use it nowadays):

L-R: Gladys White, James Brown, Roberta Black & Vandellas

L-R: Shalamar, Count Basi Beige, Cameo Cream & Motown Mink

L-R: Aretha Orange, Otis Red, O' Jays & New Jack Pink

Let me know in the comments below if you have tried this palette or any other products from Sleek.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Day 14: Maybelline Cover Stick

Hi

A few weeks ago I went to London and on my way back through Liverpool street station I stopped at the Boots store and took advantage of their 3 for 2 on Maybelline make-up. One of the products I got was their cover stick concealer.

Maybelline Coverstick Concealer in Fair

It is like a lipstick in all but colour, including the packaging. which makes it easy to carry in your handbag for day or a night out. It is creamy and thick in consistency and covers redness and dark area's well and blends into the skin easily.

It feels my skin feeling soft and smooth, not dry like many others I've tried.  I don't think this would be heavy coverage but would defiantly cover most imperfections.

Overall a good concealing product well worth a try.

Thanks for reading.

Day 11: Topshop limited edition Louise Gray Lipstick

Hi,

A few weeks ago I showed you the selection of make-up I got from Topshop, and so today I thought I would show you the lipstick from that haul, which has been created by designer Louise Gray.

Louise was born in Fraserburgh, Scotland and studied at The Glasgow School of Art in textile design and Central Saint Martins, where she completed her MA. Her clothing designs are full of bright colours, geometric shapes, graffiti and monochrome and her make-up collection, created by Topshop is no different. From the packaging design to the colour selection, she has certainly stamped her style on this range.

The inner packaging is just a bold as the box and makes a stark contrast to Topshop's usual matt black and white colour palette. However it still blends in with their permanent range with the sketchy hand drawn lines and the matt vs glossy mix.

There were only 2 lipsticks in this collection, a bright orange/red or a bright pink. As I already have a large amount of reds lipsticks in my collection I decided to go for the pink. Its called "Legend" and I can see why, as its a colour you wear everyday, its one that requires confidence and attitude to pull off.

The colour is highly pigmented and applies to the lips smoothly without stickiness. It's soft creamy texture feels gorgeous on the lips and if you apply twice with blotting in between will stay on with very minimal transfer.

Let me know in the comments below if you have tried Legend, or if you've tried the other colour "Mexican Wave" ?

Day 10: MAC Pro Sculpting Cream

Hi,

Been a few days and got myself a bit behind, so preparing to get up to date today. Starting off with a new MAC product, that has been created to help with one of the latest trends in make-up styles "contouring". This means to create light and shadow adding angles to your face, most commonly used on the cheek bone, jawline and temples.

The outer packaging is MAC's usual matte black with the white text, and the inner is a simple round compact with the clear lid, which I like because it makes it easily recognizable in my make-up bag.

The colour I decided to get is called "Pure Sculpture" and is a slightly pinkish olive tone, so basically a darker shade of my own skin tone. It is a cream product that blends beautifully to be as subtle or prominent as you want.  To apply this product I recommend a stippling brush as this allows you to work the product in to the skin and blend it easily.

Sculpting cream unblended next to bare skin

This product is getting rave reviews in magazines and I must admit I quite agree with them, it makes contouring very easy and the light creamy consistancy means it doesn't feel heavy on the skin and could even be worn without foundation just to add a little shape to the face without having to put a full face on.

Let me know what you think of the contouring trend in make-up this season in the comments below, and whether you have tried MAC's Pro sculpting cream for yourself.

See you again soon

Haul: Topshop Cosmetics with Louise Gray

Hi again,

The new cosmetics range from Topshop who have collaborated with Louise Gray is out and I was bursting to get my hands on some of the range.

What happened when i got in there though was that i wanted more than just the Louise Gray range so a thought since I only had 1 nail polish from their original cosmetics range I would get a few other things since I have friends who swear by their make-up I thought it was about time I sampled it for myself

As you can see I got quite the range of products, and I'll be reviewing them individually over the next few weeks, so keep a look out.

A fresh start

Hi everyone,

To anyone who reads my blog I want to apologise as I have not been keeping up to date with it as I should, this is mostly due to work and study commitments but I am determined to do better.

On my birthday on Monday I was given a beautiful new camera by my lovely boyfriend and so hopefully my photography should drastically improve and I may even venture into doing video tutorials and vlogs like the loverly local ladies Nic and Sam of Pixiwoo. But I need to pluck up the courage to do that so I'll stick to just blogging for now.

As a present to myself I also bought a beautiful new notepad and pen to write all my reviews and thoughts down wherever I am so I now have no excuse, especially when I the weather outside is a beautiful as it is right now.

My beautiful note pad came from paperchase for about £8.95

I have lots of make-up and nail polish reviews to do, as despite not writing about my addiction to all things make-up related it hasn't stopped me buying things. So I aim to post at least twice a week but more often if possible.

So sorry again and I hope you haven't given up on me yet.

Speak soon

Love

Jude xxx
